A construction of a speech/ nonspeech discriminator
3rd International Conference in Computer Science - Research, Innovation & Vision for the Future, 02/2005, Cần Thơ, Việt Nam - 2005
In this paper we present our studies on
construction of a speech/non speech discriminator. The
discriminator’s task is to distinguish speech signal from non
speech signal in a room such as sounds of broken glass, door
shutting, chair falling, water in toilette, etc. A set of features is
estimated and selected to be used in speech/non-speech
discrimination. Different classification models using those
features are also evaluated. Basing on results of those
evaluations, we construct a speech/non-speech discriminator
which can detect the presence of speech signals in a room. This
discriminator is to be applied in a sound analysis system within
the framework of a telemedicine project.
