Abstract:
Currently, the major obstacle of the Conventions on Biological Diversity is the limited skills in species recognition. In Vietnam, these skills are also lacking but information technology have enabled the emergence of new multimedia tools to aid in the identification and training of taxonomists such as IDAO. In this case, this analysis is done manually so these tools were prepared by experts in the biology who are responsible for the extraction of characters. The objective of my work is to explore opportunities to automatically identify and extract certain features from leaf images to the identification of plants.

The presentation comprises 4 main parts. Firstly, I would like to introduce the context, the main issues as well as the objective of my Phd work. Then, I present and analyze the related works. After that, preliminary experimental works will be described. Finally, I present the plan of my future works.
