Résumé/Abstract:
Current reading documents solutions seemed perfect to apply on practical products. In fact, commercial products can reliably recognize text in good quality documents, such as Adobe Acrobat Reader, ABBYY, Google, … However, in outdoor environment, their performances become really poor. It is because text in outdoor comes in a variety of size, font, and orientation. Besides, they may be located in any area, and their appearance could be distorted by many factors such as light, shade, movement, other objects, etc. Hence, proposing a reliable solution for handling scene text reading is still a highly challenging approach.
With the development of camera techniques, many useful applications could be proposed based on this field. In our research, we are working toward to develop a reading system for aiming elderly in their outside activities. The system will be designed to help elderly to read text in the environment by locating and recognizing automatically text in images captured from a wearable camera
